Review On Kesha’s New Video – “Your Love Is My Drug”

The new Kesha’s video “Your Love Is My Drug”, well, I think we waited for something better, but what I have to recognize is Kesha’s original creativity and finally not trying to copy to other female artists in the industry right now. The video is very psychodelic just a Kesha said it would be, but the best part of the video is the body-painting part, looks very interesting, is the video great? No, but it’s different, and very simple, but sometimes simple is better.

Review On Eminem’s New Single – “Not Afraid”

Posted in billboard, charts, movies, music, video with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 16, 2010 by KammusiK

“Not Afraid” is Eminem’s new and lead single from his up-coming album “Recovery”. After dissapearing a while from important radio airplay and charts with his previous album “Relapse” Eminem has finally come back with “Not Afraid”, and I don’t use to say this to Eminem, but with this single, it’s nice to have him back. “Not Afraid” has debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 1oo because of strong downloads and maybe will start to falling down the charts with time cause this song is not as versatil as previous humoristic Marshal singles, and thank God, this is bigger. “Not Afraid” has shown a growth on Eminem’s music, he’s making deeper lyrics dealing with his own problems like his addiction to drugs. With a very catchy and interesting chorus and dark tone this is ready to stay in your head for several weeks. Although the single is well done, it is very similar to two of his previous singles, like a “Toy Soldiers” meets “Cleaning Out My Closet”,  but the combination is interesting enough, enough to come back to his historic rap career, one that he left for a while.

Review On Katy Perry’s New Single – “California Gurls”

Posted in billboard, charts, movies, music, video with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2010 by KammusiK

“California Gurls” is the new and lead single from Katy Perry’s up-coming album yet to be titled. This song features Snoop Dogg’s rap and to be honest, he does it pretty good here. “California Gurls” seems to be the response of Jay-Z’s “Empire State Of Mind” as Katy stated, but, is this as good as Jay-Z’s? It is. Her new single is joyful and it’s very light, totally a summer hit about L.A’s best part, the girls. Even though this ain’t too different from what Katy has done this is pretty interesting, it’s like “Hot N Cold” meets “Waking Up In Vegas” and the comparission with the last one is heavy. Finally, we don’t have here another sex anthem in ways like Kesha, GaGa, Aguilera or Cyrus, this has Perry’s label, and yes, it worths…

Here’s the top 20:

# 1   Usher feat. – “OMG”

# 2   B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars – “Nothin’ On You”

# 3   Rihanna – “Rude Boy”

# 4   Taio Cruz feat. Ludacris – “Break Your Heart”

# 5   Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now”

# 6   Train – “Hey, Soul Sister”

# 7   B.o.B feat. Eminem & Haley Williams – “Airplanes”

# 8   Kesha – “Your Love Is My Drug”

# 9   Jason DeRulo – “In My Head”

#10  Jay-Z feat. Mr. Hudson – “Young Forever”

#11  Ludacris feat. Nicki Minaj – “My Chick Bad”

#12  The Script – “Breakeven”

#13  Lady GaGa feat. Beyoncé – “Telephone”

#14  Drake – “Over”

#15  Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber – “Enie Meenie”

#16  Lady GaGa – “Alejandro”

#17  Black Eyed Peas – “I’mma Be”

#18  Adam Lambet – “Whataya Want From Me”

#19  Kesha – “TiK ToK”

#20  Trey Songz feat. Fabolous – “Say Aah”

Well, this the lastest update of the Billboard’s Hot 100, and what we can see here is Usher claiming the top spot for this week with after jumping from #6 to #1 (and damn! I know last week I said it was saying goodbye to the top!). Another high peak this week was Jay-Z finally making it into the top ten with “Young Forever” from his successful album “The Blueprint 3”. Like I said, Lady GaGa, Adam Lambert and Kesha are saying goodbye with “Telephone”, “TiK ToK” and “Whataya Want From Me”, but rising with “Alejandro” and “Your Love Is My Drug” (and still we’re waiting for the videos). But the most impressive thing here is Lady Antebellum’s single “Need You Now” staying for 11 months on the chart and currently peaking at #5. (And hell, I haven’t heard this song yet!)

Review On Rihanna’s New Song – “Rockstar 101” feat. Slash

Posted in movies, music, video with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 3, 2010 by KammusiK

First she did it with “Hard”, and now she’s doing it with the fourth U.S single from “Rated R”, and just when we thought “Hard” was like the worst song she ever released “Rockstar 101” comes out. But, how can I start to review this? What is actually passing through my mind right now is: “How can you treat this sh*t as a single??, no, wait, I have one better, HOW CAN YOU TREAT THIS AS AN ALBUM CUT??, HOW COULD SHE PUT THIS INTO THE FINAL TRACK-LIST??!! WHY DID SLASH PARTICIPATE WITH THIS??” Well, let’s recognized it, we shouldn’t be surprised of the poor material here after listening to the new album, that it’s not brilliant at all. “Rockstar 101” is the most boring song I have heard in about 5 months, the music is not gracious enough, the lyrics are dumb and pointless, saying a lot, but actually telling nothing, and it is too long, 4 minutes for the same annoying tune and boring chorus. But the most shocking part on this is the Slash colaboration, his guitar melody is almost in the whole song, but not as Slash use to play, and actually you won’t realize that he’s featured in this song if you don’t read on the track-list “feat. Slash”, believe me, you wouldn’t notice it, his participation here is empty and replaceable, and readers, I promise you, if this ever become a hit, I’ll cut my left testicle, I promise! She can have lots of money, but baby, you’ll never be a “Rockstar”.

Review On Rihanna’s New Song – “Rude Boy”

Posted in movies, music, video with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 3, 2010 by KammusiK

“Rude Boy” is Rihanna’s third official U.S single from her new album “Rated R”, but it hasn’t been until now that she’s getting heavy attention from radio and listeners, and it’s not unusual that her record label wanted to release the best song on her new album after the lackluster  success of her lead single “Russian Roulette” and and fugacious second single “Hard”, but the record company did not err in deciding “Rude Boy” as third single, because of the nice reagge-pop sound with a very, very radio-friendly beat. The lyrics are catchy and a little too much naughty, maybe the naugthiest song since “Please Don’t Stop The Music”, and of course, the only song on “Rated R” that can go with those hits of previous album “Good Girl Gone Bad”. Rihanna’s new song will totally be a hit, but I have to say, there is no other song on the album that will make it, she has just played the best card she held in her hand and  maybe we won’t listen to another Rihanna’s smash hit until she releases a new album, we only hope that Rude Boy’s success would be enough to remember her until the next album, cause certainly, if she doesn’t go back to the “Umbrella” era, she can be sure that Lady GaGa and Kesha will lead the charts instead of her (as she used to). (And I keep wondering, why does she want a Rude Boy? Didn’t she understand what happened with Chris, and damn, he was rude… very rude)

Review On Christina Aguilera’s New Video & Song – “Not Myself Tonight”

Posted in music, video with tags , , , , , , , on April 30, 2010 by KammusiK

Christina has shown us that she’s musically pretty versatile, and now she has just released her new & lead single from the upcoming album “Bionic”, but she has just dissapointed us with it. “Not Myself Tonight” is nearly a clon of her previous single “Keeps Gettin’ Better”, but worse, the lyrics are dumb, and the music is more robotic than it should be, but it’s not weird coming from producer Polow da Don, who is well known (to me)  for his poor-futuristic sound.

Now, let’s get into the video, a very colorful and high-fashion one, but maybe a little too much. The X-Tina era is back, but, a good choice? I’m not sure, more than putting her own essence as she used to do in her music, this seems to be like a “wannabeGaGa” or “wannabeKesha” (And I’m sure GaGa thinks “that’s too much”…) Does Christina really has to behave in this way to sell? With this video & song she has thrown the classy image she built with years, yes, she’s “Not her self tonight”, but we prefer the old Christina, this is trashy…
